Air Niugini is the national flag carrier of Papua New Guinea. The airline connects major cities in Pacific Asia, serving 25 domestic destinations within Papua New Guinea, as well as 4 international destinations in 10 countries across Asia and Oceania.

The airline has two bases as the main airports in the country, which would be Port Moresby and Lae. Baggage Allowance
Carry-On Baggage
Baggage allowances for carry-on luggage are as follows for Business and Economy class:
Business Class: Two cabin bags not exceeding 14kgs (30lbs). The sum total of three dimensions of both pieces must not exceed 50 x 30 x 20 cm = 100cm (40inches)
Economy Class: One cabin bag not exceeding 7kgs (15lbs). The total measurement must not exceed 50 x 30 x 20 cm = 100cm (40 inches)
In addition to baggage allowance, passengers are allowed a reasonable number of personal iteams, including a small handbag, overcoat/jacket/wrap, a small camera, and reading materiel.
Checked Baggage
Free checked baggage allowance will depend on route and ticket fare.
Economy passengers are entitled to 16kg on domestic routes, 25kg on routes to/from PNG-TYO, and 30kg on all other international routes – except on routes to/from North America, where 23kg per piece (2 pieces max).
Business passengers are entitled to 20kg on domestic routes, and 40kg on all other international routes – except to/from North America, where 2 pieces at 32kg each are allowed.
Club members receive extra baggage allowance, as explained in the table below.

Fleet
As of June 2022, the airline operates a fleet of Boeing aircraft, mostly Boeing 737 variants and two 767, along with smaller Fokker aircraft. Air Niugini also recently acquired the Bombardier Q300 and Q400 for its fleet. Air Niugini’s subsidiary company, Link PNG, also operates flights with a fleet of Bombardier Dash 8-200s and Dash 8-300s.

Jacksons International Airport
Jacksons International Airport (IATA: POM) is the largest airport in Papua New Guinea and is the main hub for Air Niugini and Airlines PNG. Other airlines which fly to and from Jacksons International Airport include Phillippine Airlines, QantasLink, Virgin Australia, and PNG Air. Jacksons International Airport currently only has one runway.

Checked Baggage
The standard checked baggage allowance for the different cabin classes is as follows: Economy passengers may bring up to 30kg, and Business class travellers may bring up to 40kg. If you are flying onwards with Air Niugini on domestic journeys, please note that your allowance reduces to 16kg for Economy ticket holders and 20kg for Business flyers. You will be charged if your luggage is over the weight limit, but prices will vary according to your destination.
