Fleet

Braathens Regional took delivery of its maiden ATR72-600 on Friday, November 6. SE-MKA (cn 1276) was originally destined for MASwings (MY, Kota Kinabalu) where it was to have become 9M-MYE on the Malaysian registry.

The turboprop is the first of five ATR72-600s the Swedish operator committed to as part of an order with Avions de Transport Régional (Toulouse Blagnac) which includes ten options. The new ATR72s will enable Braathens Aviation to replace its ageing fleet of twelve Saab 2000s while adding to its existing fleet of five ATR72-500s (all leased out to fellow BRA – Braathens Regional Airlines affiliates Kullaflyg and Gotlandsflyg).

BRA schedules maiden flight to Salen for December 2019

Braathens Regional Airlines (TF) announced that it will start serving Salen (SCR), one of the biggest ski areas in Sweden, during the winter 2019.

Braathens Regional Airlines, which recently inaugurated flights between Vaxjo and Berlin Tegel, has connected another Swedish regional city to a European capital this week, with the operator now offering six weekly flights between Malmö (MMX) and Helsinki (HEL). Launched on 16 April, the carrier will operate the 863-kilometre hop between the Swedish and Finnish cities using a mixture of its 112-seat Avro RJ100s and 95-seat Avro RJ85s according to OAG schedules, with it currently having a combined total of 13 in its fleet. The airport pair faces no direct competition.

Helsinki becomes Braathens Regional Airlines’ fourth scheduled route from Malmö and its first international link. It also offers services to Stockholm Bromma and Visby year-round, while seasonal services to Åre Östersund are also operated. The airline also offers some charters from Malmö during the summer season.

Braathens Regional Airlines has entered into an agreement with BAE Systems and KLM UK Engineering to service its Avro fleet. The Swedish airline has 12 Avros and has entered into these agreements for three years each.
